FRIDAY, 12/12/14--CPR

Friday, December 12th
Day 36
(Eight days remaining)

When You Come In
  1. Please sign in.
  2. Get out your copy of Animal Farm, as well as your two vocab sheets.
  3. If you were absent yesterday, please don’t ask me what you missed.  The reading assignment for yesterday was posted on schoology.  Grab a book from the front table, and grab two yellow vocab sheets off the turn-in drawer.
  4. If you missed the Oedipus Final yesterday, come in during QST today to make it up, please.

Vocab Alert (One minute)
  • Make a note in your book:
1. A person who shares one's interests or activities; a friend or companion.
2. often Comrade A fellow member of a group, especially a fellow member of the Communist Party.

Review from Yesterday (One minute)
  • This is a fable.  What is a fable?  :-)
    • short
    • animals are the main characters
    • fictional
    • teaches a moral or a lesson

Vocabulary (Five minutes)
  • Discuss your EXEMPLARS on the vocab sheets.
  • Remember, you need TWO examples for each word.  If you hear one from someone else that makes perfect sense to you, write it down.  But it will be most effective if you think of one of your own--brain research.

Pair-Share  (People who were absent yesterday should read and annotate in the library during this time.)

Quiz:  Chapters 1-2
  1. Take the quiz on schoology.  You may only be on the quiz--if you’re anywhere else, you receive a zero for the quiz.
  2. When you finish the quiz, start reading and annotating chapters 3, 4, and 5 of Animal Farm.
  3. If you were absent yesterday, you will take the quiz Monday, along with chapters 3, 4, and 5.

When you read and annotate today, strive to reach for other texts and visuals.  Try to weave that spiderweb of connections.  Connect the dots!  Look for and find patterns, like Professor Foster says.

  1. Get out your two vocab lists.  You should be on the lookout for CONNECTIONS as you are reading today.
  2. HIGHLIGHT vocab words when you see them, and write the definitions out to the side as part of your annotating, please.
