Finish all the items listed on Perfect Moment Memoir Draft #1 Directions
NOW, ON YOUR OWN—QUIET WORK TIME--ON YOUR PAPER
______1) Write “FIRST DRAFT” on the top
of your memoir.
______2) Re-read your memoir slowly,
from beginning to end.
______3) Highlight in yellow all verbs
(action words).
______4) Highlight in green (or any
non-yellow color) all imagery--creating pictures with words.
REVISE TO A SECOND DRAFT, DOING ALL THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY AND
THOUGHTFULLY:
______5) Change any PAST TENSE (-ed endings; was) verbs (see yellow highlights) to PRESENT TENSE.

______6) Look over your conferencer’s
visualizing notes. Where do you need to
add detail, to make sure you’re SHOWING? Add detail!

______7) Review the rubric; make any
revisions you feel would strengthen your piece.

title. Strengthen it, if you can; create
at least a working title, if you have not done so already.
Editing—Cosmetic Changes
______9) Look over your conferencer’s
editing comments. Make corrections as
needed.
______10)Check your MLA
format with a neighbor, and make sure your entire page is doublespaced.
Turning It In
______11)Save it, print it
out, and write “SECOND DRAFT” at the top of your revised copy.
______12)Staple as
follows, then FIND A PERSON TO TRADE FOR A SECOND PEER CONFERENCE (DIFFERENT PERSON THAN YESTERDAY)

Last Peer Conference
- Get a Perfect Moment Second Draft Peer Conference from Mr. Wehr.
- Find a new person to peer conference with, and complete it thoughtfully.
LAST THING: Create a FINAL DRAFT of your Perfect Moment.
- Print it.
- Keep it all in your binder until Monday. You will turn it in to me then.
If You Have Time Remaining, Do Any of the Following
1.
Revise more on your four graded
revisions (due Monday).
2.
Revise other pieces that need smaller
changes to ready them for your portfolio.
3.
Make edits—cosmetic corrections—to any
piece going into your portfolio.
4.
Re-read the red portfolio pages, so you
know what you still need to do.
5.
Start your portfolio reflection (due
Tuesday).
