When You Come In
1)     Please sign in.
2)     Please get a sheet off the table called “Phrasing”.
3)     Please grab your three read-aloud books off the heater.

Fluency, Part I
1)     What is PHRASING?  What’s another word for it?  Why is it vital to your fluency?
2)     Review the FLUENCY rubric.
3)     Let’s talk specifically about how and when to phrase/chunk something.
4)    Let’s practice PHRASING!
5)     Put this paper in the FLUENCY section of your binder.

Fluency Final Preparation
1)     Review the Fluency Rubric.  Make sure you have a copy of it in your binder!
2)     Review rules for Phrasing.
a.     • What are the rules for where to PHRASE something (slashes)?
b.     • What do you do when there are no rules?
c.     • Why is PHRASING important?
d.     • How will PHRASING help your listeners understand your reading?
3)     Review rules for Super Signals.
4)    PREP SHEET #1:  Complete Fluency Prep Sheet #1 over your first book.
a.     Set the timer on your phone, and read your book to yourself.
b.     Write the TIME it took you to read on the upper right corner of your Prep Sheet #1.
c.     Turn Prep Sheet #1 into the “Prep #1” folder on the front table.
5)     PREP SHEET #2:  When you finish, get your second book, and complete Prep Sheet #2, please!
a.     Set the timer on your phone, and read your book to yourself.
b.     Write the TIME it took you to read on the upper right corner of your Prep Sheet #2.
6)    PREP SHEET #3:  When you finish #2, please grab a GREAT third book you love, and do Prep Sheet #2.
a.     Set the timer on your phone, and read your book to yourself.
b.     Write the TIME it took you to read on the upper right corner of your Prep Sheet #3.
WE WILL BE REHEARSING THESE WITH PARTNERS TOMORROW!  Yay!  J

Last Three Minutes of the Block
1)     Put rejected books on the desk by the fan.
2)     Put keeper books on the “4th Block” portion of the heater.
3)     Turn in COMPLETED Prep Sheets.
4)    KEEP incomplete Prep Sheets.
