CREATIVE WRITING!  :-)

Tuesday, May 8th, we went to Stewart to work with our Writing Buddies!

When You Come In
1.       Please sign in.
2.      Please grab your Early Memory AND a yellow rubric off the table.
3.      Please grab an iBook and sign on to google docs.

Big Ideas for the Week (Next Five Days)
1.       Showing, Not Just Telling
2.      Diction—Have that Vocabulary Variety sheet out every day!
3.      Revision!

Revision:  Early Memory to 2nd (Almost Final) Draft
1.       Read your buddy’s comments FIRST!  What does that tell you about your revision?
2.      Read your peer conferencer’s comments (from Monday) next.  Doing both these things should help you focus your mind on what, where and how to REVISE:  re-see, re-think, re-write.
3.      Review the grading criteria for this assignment.  This will be a PROSE grade, not merely a daily grade, so this is a PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT.
4.      Drag this piece into the Third Block Creative Writing folder/collection.  Save it as “LAST NAME—EARLY MEMORY”.
5.      Revise this to a strong second draft, making AT A BARE MINIMUM TEN CHANGES (not including editing, which must also be done).

When You Finish with Your Second Draft
1.       Print it to room 212, front and back.  (I’ll get it at lunch.)
2.      Read your orange portfolio pages.
3.      Go through your google docs portfolio folder, and start revising and editing pieces you think you’ll put in your portfolio.
4.      Paragraph any prose pieces in your folder that need it.

After Lunch:  PORTFOLIO!
  • ·       Portfolio Discussion Sheet

Homework
  • ·       Portfolio
