 CREATIVE WRITING

When You Come In
1.       Please pick up your manila folder.
2.      Please sign in.
3.      Please get your Ogden Nash poems from Friday out (blue handout).

Writing Buddies Announcement
·       Don’t be absent TOMORROW!  That’s our first day with our buddies at Stewart!  J

Review the plan for tomorrow.
1.       I’ll answer any questions you have, and then I’ll run you copies of this to use as your lesson plans tomorrow.
2.      Everyone needs to put his/her Earliest Memory paragraph-to-poem in the folder on my desk.  I will keep it for you for tomorrow.
3.      How many of you are planning to buy school lunch?  I need a head-count for tomorrow. (9 people)

Reading Assignment
·       Get your Pen Pal Letter back!  J
·       Okay—it’s possible, that based on what your buddy told you in your pen pal letter, you might want to write an Ogden Nash poem or two about something of interested to your buddy!
·       What is something you could write your Ogden Nash poem about that your buddy would like?

Writing Assignment
1.       Finish reading Ogden Nash poems.
2.      What are the four reasons on the back of your handout?
a.      Humor
b.      Animals or other topics children like
c.      Word-play
d.      Rhyme
e.      2-8 LINES LONG FOR EACH ONE
f.       www.rhymezone.com
g.      A title that adds a dimension to the poem
3.      Write three Ogden Nash poems of your own.
4.      Title each one, then print them out on one a sheet of paper.
5.      Save your poems in the google docs folder for our class.

When you finish your THREE OGDEN NASH POEMS, print the following now:
1.       Earliest Memory Paragraph to Poem (FRONT/BACK) 
2.      Pen Pal Letter to your buddy
