CREATIVE WRITING

Writing Experiments #9 and #10
·       Love—of course.

Writing Experiments:  Love
#9 (Ten-Twelve minutes)
“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength,
while loving someone deeply gives you courage.”
Lao Tzu

“I have found the paradox,
that if you love until it hurts,
there can be no more hurt,
only more love.”
Mother Teresa

“Love does not begin and end the way we seem to think it does.
Love is a battle, love is a war; love is growing up.”
James A. Baldwin

#10 (Fifteen-Eighteen Minutes)
Arranged Marriage
In some cultures, marriages are arranged.  The parents, sometimes with the aid of a matchmaker, choose mates for their children.  If your parents had to choose a mate for you, what kind of characteristics and qualities do you think they would look for?  How would your parents’ choices differ from your own?

Darkness and Light
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
--Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Dr. King was a pacifist and believed that hatred and prejudice could be fought with love.  Do you agree with him?  Do you think that in all situations a peaceful response is the correct one?
