Spilled Popcorn
What’s the worst movie you’ve seen recently?  Imagine you’re a film critic and write a couple of paragraphs tearing this movie to shreds.

I’m Grateful
Even the dreariest, most awful weeks aren’t bad twenty-four hours a day.  Think of a few things that have happened this week that you’re grateful for.

Breaking Up
Woody Allen once said,
“It’s better to be the leaver than the leavee.”
Do you agree?  Would you rather dump someone than get dumped yourself?  Which do you think is more painful?

Lunch Reminder for Tomorrow
·       Bring a snack to tide you over, because we’re eating “C” lunch.

·       Please sign in.

Reset Today
·       We need one.  I talked in some detail about the expectations I have for the rest of the term.  I will not list them all here, but here are my comments on absences:

·       Absences Reminders
1.      If you’re here at school at any time, your stuff is due.
2.     If you know in advance you’re going to be absent, your work is due BEFORE you go.
3.     If you’re absent from school, you have one day to get make-up work in.
4.     Write a note at the top of your paper saying when it was due, and why you’re turning it in late.
5.     As a courtesy to others, and as a way of staying organized and respectful of everyone’s time, please do not interrupt regular classtime and discussions to ask about something you missed.
6.     Take responsibility for your own learning.

Myth Connections Pair-Share—Teaching Each Other and Reviewing
·       Draw three random cards from one person’s pile.
·       Work as a pair to connect the three.  You are SYTHESIZING, which is one of the highest order level of thinking.
·       If you do that successfully three times, draw four or five cards to create more of a challenge.  That’s more SYNTHESIS!
·       Keep ONE pile of connections that represents you and your partner’s most stellar thinking (which you’ll share with the large group).
·       Reminder:  academic language, and serious discussions
