ACW

Workshop
  • Pick up the rubric on the circle table for the PHOTO MEMOIR, then work on it.  The final draft and completed rubric are due when you walk in Monday.  These will be traded with one other person to read.
  • Review the requirements for the GRAPHIC MEMOIR on page 44, then work on it.  Raid the black cabinet for supplies--ribbon, yarn, colors, glue....  Get creative, people!  :-)  You six-panel (minimum) GRAPHIC MEMOIR is due Monday, when you walk in the door.  Note:  If you want to do your memoir on an iBook instead of hand-draw it, that's fine--you can use whatever medium you want, as long as there are illustrations and text.
  • Last twenty minutes:

  1. Read about a project called "Six Billion Others"
  2. http://www.6milliardsdautres.org/
  3. Clicking on "The Project" will give you a little background about the project.
  4. Clicking on "Discover:  5000 testimonies of 6 billion Others" will take you to the page where you can listen to stories.
  5. Is there one story that leaves an impression on you, more than the others?  Write a five-sentence response to one of the stories, and save it as your last name in the ACW class folder titled "Reaction".
Homework for Monday
  • Photo Memoir and rubric
  • Graphic Memoir

CREATIVE WRITING

11:20-12:03
  • Grab your folder from the front table.
  • Select ONE of your six-word memoirs to read aloud Monday.  Highlight the one you're going to read, please.  (It's in your folder.)
  • Get a copy of the WWYLN Final Draft Directions off the circle table.  Follow the directions, please.  You have until 12:03 to complete this.
12:32-12:50
  • Get with your partner for the dialogue story.
  • Pick up the copies of your Partner Dialogue stories that people edited.  They are on the back circle table.
  • You and your dialogue partner should review them carefully.
  • Decide which editing changes you need to make to correctly edit your Partner Dialogue story.
  • Pull up your copy of this story from the class folder, and hit "Track Changes".
  • Make all corrections that YOU feel are correct.  Your final grade for this assignment depends on you correctly editing this piece.
  • Save the edited copy, with Track Changes, over the old copy in the class folder.
12:55-1:15
  • Theme for English B--you have twenty minutes to start it.  What you don't finish is for homework.  It's due Monday when you walk in the door.  No one else will read it but me.
