Homework Due
- Wr. Ex. #3
- We shared our cliché stories aloud. Wow--people used a lot of clichés! Hopefully, we have this out of our system now. :-)
- We read Earthbook for about twenty minutes, finishing our search for a piece we like that we can read in class tomorrow.
- Choosing Precise Adjectives (p. 22)
- We talked about how and why to use precision when describing something. Rather than saying, "It was a nice day," include a concrete detail or two that will SHOW your reader a nice day.
- We also talked about relative terms, like "tall" and "old". Cassie and Glenda showed us how and why the word "tall" is all relative! :-)
- We worked on making "that awful food" more precise with concrete description. We'll work on the rest of page 22 tomorrow.

ADVANCED CREATIVE WRITING
Workshop (twenty-five minutes)
Workshop (twenty-five minutes)
- Five people shared their Sound Poems and we gave them comments: Jennica, Tayler, Tyler, Tad and Katey Jo.
- I handed out the packets with all the class poems in them.
- We highlighted our lines from the packet.
- We talked about what we might need to consider when making all these lines into one poem, the Class Poem Revision: flow, order, line breaks, deleting words that make no sense or are not needed, and adding words that are.
Diction
- We each submitted our Banished Word to the Lake Superior website. :-)
Diction
- I quizzed people on some Alternate Definitions of words. :-) We'll continue these tomorrow.
