Ø Make
two pieces of writing substantially stronger by using all the lessons you’ve
learned this term.
Ø Take
your time, and craft this revision. If
you finish in ten minutes, I guarantee your performance and grade will reflect
that lack of work ethic.

documents on google to see that you’ve mastered all the items below. (There is no paperwork for you to fill out
today.)

You Can Do to Check Yourself
Ø Follow
the directions below exactly.
Ø Go to
“File”, then “See Revision History” to make sure your changes are there.
Ø Computer
guidelines: google drive; online
synonym/dictionary; grooveshark/Pandora; free rice (only if you finish early)
Earliest Memory Poem (Revision)
1. Read your poem with fresh eyes
today.
2. Delete all material but the
poem. (Make sure you copy and paste your
STORY into a separate document, in case you want to use it later in your
portfolio.
3. Review and consider the notes I
made on your poem when we talked in the library.
4. Do all of the following to revise:
a. Add details to create more imagery
b. Subtract/Cut any words not vital
for sense (dead words, repetitive phrasings)
c. Substitute Vocabulary Variety
words for non-descriptive or boring ones.
d. Switch words, phrases, and/or
lines around as needed to create a smooth flow
e. Give this a knock-out title
5. Make at least substantial ten
revisions/changes, and probably many more.
6. Edit your poem for grammatical
perfection.
7. Print a copy to the Media
Center, front and back, and I’ll send someone down in a few to pick
them up.
8. Staple your REVISED DRAFT ON TOP
of your original, then lay it on the heater at the end of class.
Musical Memory Revision
1. Get out your Musical Memory.
2. Re-read it.
3. Read carefully over your peer
conferencer's comments. You got some
solid comments. You need to mine these
for all the gold you can!
4. Do all of the following to revise:
a. Add details to create more imagery
b. Subtract/Cut any words not vital
for sense (dead words, repetitive phrasings)
c. Substitute Vocabulary Variety
words for non-descriptive or boring ones.
d. Switch words, phrases, and/or
lines around as needed to create a smooth flow

f. Put in
paragraphs as needed to show when you are shifting gears.

- 3,000 total grains in freerice
