CREATIVE WRITING

When You Come In

·       Turn in the homework--complete peer conference and first and second draft of Early Memory.

·       Wrack your brain—what’s the phrase for this unit, the phrase for the week?

Writing Lesson #1—Imagery and Diction (Surprise!)
·       Take notes and discuss the Emily Bronte sentence (p. 51).

Writing Lesson #2—Metaphors and Similes (9:42-9:46?)
1.      Pair-share page 62.
a.     Put a SMILEY FACE by the ones you LIKE and think are strong!
b.     Put a question mark by the ones you don’t really get—they’re not putting a clear picture in your head.
2.     Discuss as a class the ones you feel are strongest.
3.     Pair-share Alleged Actual Analogies and Metaphors (pp. 63-4)
4.     Discuss as a class the ones that went most wrong, and why.  J

Writing Assignment:  WE #12--Love is Like....
1.      FILES ON DESKTOP!
2.     How do we do this assignment?
3.     Read models from previous years for ideas.
4.     Let’s brainstorm using one concrete idea, then making comparisons about it—school? 
5.     Columns—can you see how one is LIKE the other?

Homework
·       Think of your own topic (equation) for your Love Is Like Poem, which we will write in class tomorrow.

After You Print the Quiz, and Throw It in the Drawer
·       Update your Vocab War pages.
o   Make sure they are complete and accurate.
o   Vocab War—twenty-points minimum this week! (By Friday)
·       Read the novel.

AFTER LUNCH:
Pair Shares
·       Update your Motifs chart.
·       Review chapter 22, and see what you can fill out on your Active Reading (Frankenstein Chapters 22-24).
